One year ago
Australia Goes Green, Moves to Ban Incandescent Light Bulbs
“Hoping to reduce that country’s greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 4 million tons a year, the Australian Environmental Ministry has moved to ban the use of incandescent light bulbs in Australia by 2010. The decision, which would replace incandescent lighting with compact fluorescent bulbs, will reportedly make Australia the first country in the world to ban incandescent lighting in a bid to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Five years ago
FCC Affirms UWB Technology Rules
“The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has largely reaffirmed the rules and procedures that it adopted one year ago on the unlicensed operation of ultra-wideband (UWB) devices…In a Memorandum Opinion and Order, the Commission did not make any significant changes to the existing UWB technical parameters, indicating that it needed more information based on additional experience. The Commission also noted that any further changes in current regulations could prove disruptive to current industry product development efforts.”

Ten years ago
FDA Nearing Completion on MRA Regulations
“Nearly a year after the signing of a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) that promised to reduce trade barriers between the United States and the European Union (EU), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is nearing completion of its proposed regulations to implement the provisions of the MRA as it affects medical devices….The agency is hoping to publish its proposed regulations in time for the next U.S./EU summit meeting, scheduled for later this month.”
